Compact 3D Flash LIDAR Video Cameras And Applications
Application Note: Compact 3D Flash LIDAR Video Cameras And Applications
By Advanced Scientific Concepts, Inc.
The theory and operation of Advanced Scientific Concepts, Inc.'s (ASC) latest compact 3D Flash LIDAR Video Cameras (3D FLVCs) and a growing number of technical problems and solutions are discussed. The solutions range from space shuttle docking, planetary entry, decent and landing, surveillance, autonomous and manned ground vehicle navigation and 3D imaging through particle obscurants.
Introduction
ASC's 3D Flash LIDAR Video Camera systems have made a transition from rack mounted electronics, to Portable cameras (11.5" x 6.5' x 8") to the current TigerEye which has a form factor of 4" x 4" x 4" when using a 45 degree FOV lens. The original rack mounted electronics camera used a commercial 60 mJ pulsed laser while all optics, housings, electronics, firmware and software, were designed by ASC. For both the Portable and the TigerEye all subsystems are integrated into one package and all subsystems, including the laser, receive lens and transmit lens, were designed by ASC.
