Glass is an extremely versatile material used in applications ranging from everyday food and drink storage to medical diagnostic equipment and building insulation. Glass is formed through several methods, but the most common method involves the heating and rapid cooling of raw materials. The three most common types of glass are borosilicate, soda-line silicate, and phosphate. Each are engineered to exhibit different physical, chemical, and optical properties.
