Coherent Introduces Economical, 532 nm OEM Laser

Santa Clara, CA The new Compass 115M from Coherent, Inc. is a low power, continuous wave, 532 nm laser optimized for OEM applications in bioinstrumentation, graphic arts, and inspection. This new laser will enable a new generation of economical instrumentation at output power levels of 5 and 10mW. The Compass 115M offers the same performance, reliability and long lifetime standards as higher power Compass lasers, but with a 30% cost reduction over these earlier models. This cost saving is the result of a redesigned opto-mechanical cavity optimized for high-volume, low-cost production. However, the Compass 115M still incorporates key field-proven technologies such as PermAlign™ rigid mounting of all optics.
This new laser follows the successful Compass 315 and Compass 215, which have achieved market dominance in the areas of bioinstrumentation, graphic arts and inspection. (Over 20,000 of these lasers are now in the field). Compass 115M has been developed to specifically address the growing cost constraints in bioinstrumentation. Typical applications in bioinstrumentation for the Compass 115M include flow cytometry, confocal microscopy and spectroscopy. It will also be useful for lower power graphic arts and inspection applications.
