The Hololab Calibration Accessory (HCA) calibrates Raman instrumentation in the visible and near-infrared regions of the spectrum, yielding accurate spectra both in terms of wavelength and intensity. The intensity calibration corrects for instrument-to-instrument inaccuracies caused by variations in laser excitation frequency, optical throughput, and fixed pattern noise or quantum efficiency in CCD detectors. A standard Raman sample provides precise laser wavelength assignment and qualification of the resulting calibration.

The unit incorporates both wavelength and intensity sources in the compact lamp head. Neon emission lines provide x-axis calibration, and a NIST-traceable white-light source provides relative y-axis calibration. A variety of adapters allow the lamp head to be used with fiber optic cables and non-contact sampling optics. The lamp head fits directly onto a microscope slide holder for use with Raman microscopes.
