Bestech Releases New Compact Confocal Sensor With Superior Precision

Bestech Australia

Bestech Australia introduces a new range of non-contact distance sensors from Micro-Epsilon, designed to measure at sub-micrometre accuracies. The new distance sensors are also suitable for the one-sided thickness measurement of different materials.

Manufactured in Germany, Micro-Epsilon’s new IFS2406 series confocal sensors are non-contact and maintenance-free, providing long-term stability. The confocalDT from Micro-Epsilon includes the fastest controller currently available in the world and achieves measurement rates up to 10 kHz using an LED light source and 70 kHz using a Xenon light source. The IFS2406 sensors are specially designed for vacuum applications.

Key features and advantages of the new IFS2406 series confocal sensors include high precision measurement results in displacement and distance measurement tasks; thickness measurement of transparent objects enabled; wide range of sensors and various interface options such as Ethernet, EtherCAT, RS422 and analogue output extending application range; compact size, submicrometer accuracy and small spot size for measurement; axial and radial measuring directions enabling versatile application; and measurement channel parameterised via a user-friendly web interface.

In addition to distance measurements on reflecting or transparent surfaces, the new sensors can also be applied for one-sided thickness measurement of transparent film, plates or layers. The IFS2406 series finds application in displays and glass production, medical engineering and research and development.

Bestech Australia is the sole distributor of Micro-Epsilon sensors in Australia and New Zealand.
