Berliner Glas KGaA Acquires Majority Interest In Prinz Optics GmbH
Optical coating to round off company's technical glass division
Berlin, Germany -- Berliner Glas KGaA Herbert Kubatz GmbH & Co.'s acquired majority interest in Prinz Optics GmbH, Stromberg, provides Berliner Glas with an additional optical coating service for its technical glass division. The transaction is to be completed by the end of June and becomes effective from the 1st July 2005.
The takeover has lead to a further increase in the number of Berliner Glas's in-house manufacturing processes necessary to produce technical glass. Berliner Glas's locations in Berlin, Schwäbisch Hall and Syrgenstein are currently producing high-grade, refined technical glass, focusing primarily on the areas of data processing, display technologies, sensors, and medical engineering.
Prinz Optics GmbH is one of Europe's leading providers of optical coatings manufactured using the sol-gel immersion method. The innovate company with its 30-headstrong team of employees is active in the market segments: display, projection, lighting, architecture, and industrial glass.
Prinz Optics GmbH will continue to operate under the same name at its location in Stromberg. Graduate physicist Peter Röhlen will remain the company's managing director. Division Vice President Technical Glass at Berliner Glas is Jörg Bannicke, based in Berlin.
