Back-thinned CCD Image Sensors for Spectrometers: S11071/S10420 Series
Hamamatsu’s S11071/S10420 series are back-thinned CCD image sensors for spectrometers. Available with improved etaloning characteristics, this series consists of a high-speed type (S11071 series) and low noise type (S10420 series). This series of image sensors offer nearly flat spectral response characteristics with high quantum efficiency from the UV to NIR region with pixel size of 14 um specifically developed for spectrometers.
Back thinning and back illumination produces high QE especially advantageous in the UV and NIR wavelength ranges. The S11071 includes low echeloning, strong antiblooming, and new pin out. The S11071 is also available in four sizes.
Twenty times faster than the S10420 series, the S11071 is ideal for higher speed process control applications. Array readout can be performed in less than 1mS. The S11071 series delivers more spectrum per second and reduce charge accumulation during readout. This can be especially useful for process control where fast reaction times are necessary. The S11071 has higher readout noise and reduced dynamic range. For lower speed applications the S10420 can provides higher signal to noise and dynamic range.
