Artemis Optical Limited Capitalizes On HSBC's Business Thinking Experience

The South West regional winners for HSBC's Business Thinking Initiative were announced on 21st March and, regrettably, Artemis Optical Limited were not selected. Deservedly taking the title in our category were Burts Potato Chips of Plymouth, led by Founding Director, Nick Hurst.

Burts have established themselves as an innovative and fast growing company in a highly competitive market place. Supplying customers such as Tesco's and Nando's, Burts are currently the fastest growing snacks company in Europe and are actively working to become the fastest growing in the world.

Although disappointed not to have won, Artemis are certainly not disheartened. The Business Thinking experience has been invaluable in terms of changing how the Board of Directors think about the business and this has already transformed the team.

Commenting on the Initiative, Ian Moyes (Managing Director),
"This journey has been fantastic both for the company and for me personally. It has profoundly changed how I think about and approach business and I've found myself having regular epiphanies throughout the experience.

Mixing with the other contestants and senior executives from HSBC allowed me to benchmark our strategic direction. As a result, we are now ever more confident that Artemis is heading in the right direction. We are dedicated to continuous improvement and it's experiences such as this that are fundamental in us achieving this.

I have been touched by the engagement of our employees throughout this process. The employees have been behind this from the start and its invaluable to have such a strong team that are all pulling Artemis in the same direction.

The support we have received from our customers has been great. They have shown a genuine interest in Artemis' Business Thinking journey. We hope that our customers will feel the benefits of what we have learnt from this experience.

We will definitely be trying out for the award again next year!".

Artemis would like to wish Nick Hurst (Founding Director) and all the team at Burts the best of luck in the HSBC Business Thinking Initiative final. Undoubtedly a worthy winner, Artemis look forward to seeing Burts take the title, on behalf of the South West.
