ARO Acquires Five Acre Site

Source: Alpine Research Optics Corp.

Alpine Research Optics (ARO, Boulder, CO) has recently completed the purchase of a five acre site on which they plan to build a state-of-the-art campus. The company has already received planning permission for 70,000 square feet of manufacturing and research space, and plans to commence construction on a first phase of 40,000 square feet in 2002. The site, currently undeveloped, is strategically located in the Gunbarrel Technical Center in Boulder, Colorado.

According to ARO President David Collier, "We believe that the market for high performance coated optics will continue to grow, particularly in the deep ultraviolet. The demanding emerging applications for UV optics will require stringent control of substrate fabrication steps as well as state-of-the-art coating methods, in order to deliver the required lifetime. We are committed to the investment for a new purpose-built facility as this will enable us to develop and reliably produce long-lived UV optics in much higher volume and at market-enabling prices."

Current construction plans include provision for up to 16,000 square feet of cleanroom space. An extensively equipped machine shop is also in the master plan, which will allow the company to meet the growing demand for their opto-mechanical subassemblies.
