Alphion Corporation Establishes Facilities In India

New Delhi, India — Alphion Corporation, a privately held company that develops, manufactures and markets communication systems, sub-systems, and integrated photonic components based on its proprietary QLight® technology, has announced the establishment of research, development, customer support and manufacturing centers at Mumbai and Bangalore in India to support the rapidly growing demand for its FTTx products in Asia. Alphion sells to service providers as well as OEM customers in the communications, CATV, Fiber-to-the-Premises (FTTP), fiber optic sensing and defense system markets. The QLight® family of products is used in a broad array of applications in the rapidly emerging market for passive optical networks (PON) as well as photonic regeneration, amplification, wavelength management, photonic routing and fiber optic sensing.

"Alphion has demonstrated its commitment to the Asian marketplace by establishing research, development, customer support, and manufacturing centers in India" commented Dr. Bharat P. Dave, Alphion Chairman, President and CEO. "The demand for advanced FTTx networks in the Asian marketplace is expected to grow exponentially over the next few years."

Alphion provides complete end-to-end FSAN ITU.T G.984 compliant GPON solutions including Optical Line Terminals (OLTs), Optical Network Terminals (ONTs), and Passive Splitters. The company's Media Access Controller (MAC) and Advanced Mezzanine Card (AMC) provide cost effective solutions that dramatically reduce OEMs time-to-market. The AOLT-4000 supports the full range of FTTx services and the company offers a full line up of ONTs for use in private residences (SFU), small businesses (SBU) and multi- dwelling units (MDU). The demand for triple play services (video, voice and data) is expected to drive the deployment of GPON based products over the next decade and the company sees this area as the highest growth segment in the telecommunications field.
