Abrisa Technologies designs, manufactures, and most importantly, delivers customized precision optical glass assemblies and thin film optical coatings for medical devices and analytical instruments.

Glass is often the material of choice for medical test devices and analytical instrumentation where material compatibility, durability, and transparency are required. Glass is cleanable, dimensionally stable, and inert to most chemicals with the exception of hydrofluoric acid. Glass substrates supplied by Abrisa Technologies can be polished, machined, drilled, patterned, coated with thin film materials, and bonded into assemblies, meeting the configuration and technical specifications delineated by the instrument designer, contract manufacturer, or OEM supplier.

Abrisa Technologies technical capabilities include:

  • Fabricated glass parts from 6mm to over 1,000mm in diameter with a tolerance of ±0.025%
  • Glass substrate thicknesses ranging from 0.1mm to over 25 mm
  • Hole drilling starting at 0.7mm, with typical diameters starting at 2mm
  • Abrisa Technologies can supply microscope slides and biochip substrates that are customized to fit application-specific requirements such as; applying color coatings, edge treatment detail, etching, drilling, and the application of hydrophilic or hydrophobic coatings. Additional solutions include:
    • Spacer plates and glass sub-assemblies
    • Detector covers with optional metalized seal rings
    • Hot mirrors with Anti-Reflection (AR) coatings
    • Fold mirrors, cold mirrors, and UV reflectors
    • Color filters
    • Transparent conductive coatings and thin film coatings from UV to IR
    • Chemical & heat strengthening
