Blue Sky Research's pump module for EDFAs is a highly stable pump laser with a design that capitalizes on the Company's proprietary technology and expertise in optical component and subassembly manufacturing. Central to the unit's performance and low cost is Blue Sky's proprietary µLens™ technology, which maximizes the source diode's power coupling into the output fiber, which substantially improves EDFA channel capacity and pump reliability. The µLens™ also permits substantially lower-cost fabrication using TO-based laser-diode packaging. The Company believes its pump module will match or exceed any available products' performance while costing far less, greatly facilitating the deployment of DWDM-based networks.
