850nm Point Source Emitters
Marktech Optoelectronics’ new 850 nm Point Source LED product series features improved spectral output and speed. Ideal for critical sensing applications, the Point Source LED Series emits a precise, unobstructed beam of LED light. An extremely narrow spectral bandwidth is an additional key feature adding to the overall accuracy of these devices. This 850 nm series is offered in a variety of high reliability, highly accurate packages ranging from through-hole metal can to miniature ceramic surface mounts. Custom sorting and packaging are also available for this series.
Marktech Point Source LEDs are unique devices utilizing a special die that produces a well defined pattern of light similar to a "point". These die or chips in combination with high quality optical grade glass lenses produce an extremely narrow, near parallel radiation pattern. An unobstructed, radiated beam pattern is made possible by masking the die and relocating the topside electrode. By eliminating the "dark spot" typically associated with the center of conventional LEDs, the point source LED yields superior results in critical sensing applications. The device also offers an extremely low thermal coefficient. These devices are also well suited for optical encoders or similar sensing applications that require a high degree of sensitivity, accuracy and reliability.
