600 Series CCD Camera System

The 600 Series CCD camera system is a precision, multiport digital camera designed for use with large area scientific CCD arrays in demanding low-light imaging applications. The pictured system uses a 4k x 4k CCD and is used for precise soft x-ray imaging. Other applications include imaging of luminescence from separation media or multiwell plates.

The system features 16 bit digitization using an ultralinear converter at 20 to 200 kHz pixel rates for readout noise levels of less than five electrons. A system can be configured with one, two, or four analog processors/digitizers to accommodate CCDs with multiple output ports, or CCD mosaics. Using multiple ports permits higher image frame rates in applications where the absolute lowest noise and highest precision is necessary.

The system uses a unique mechanical cryocooler to reduce CCD temperature to the lowest practical value without the use of liquid nitrogen. The CCD sensor chamber is sized to accept the largest scientific CCDs and fiber optic tapers currently available.
