500 mW DFB Diode Lasers

An angled-grating distributed feedback (alpha-DFB) diode laser generates 500 mW of narrowband (less than 5 MHz) output in a diffraction-limited, collimated circular beam that is single-frequency and temperature tunable. At 1064 nm, the SDL-6752 series laser is a useful low-power Nd:YAG replacement or for injection-seeding of high-power Nd:YAG systems. At 976 nm, the device offers a new high-power option for second harmonic generation of blue light at 488 nm or optical parametric oscillator pumping.
Strained InGaAs provides the active layer for the alpha-DFB laser, and the distributed grating reflector determines the stable wavelength. Other wavelengths between 900 nm and 1100 nm can be supplied on a custom basis with minimum order sizes. The SDL-6752 alpha-DFB laser diode is supplied in the P1 package with an internal thermoelectric cooler, thermistor, and monitor photodiode.
