Ophir-Spiricon, the global leader in precision laser measurement, recently announced StarLab 2.00, laser measurement software that converts a PC into a multi-channel laser power/energy station. Features of the newest version of the software include synchronization and display of multiple channels in one window, user-defined and multi-channel calculations, and an easy-to-use configuration panel for all channels. StarLab works with Ophir-Spiricon's smart displays and PC interfaces, allowing users to measure, analyze, and record laser power and energy parameters from the company's line of smart power/energy sensors.

StarLab 2.00 supports the selection and display of multiple channels of data in one or more window. Each channel can be color coded and superimposed to track trends for all sensors simultaneously. The software logs data from up to eight (8) power/energy sensors; data can be time synched and logged for later review. New mathematical functions include a Scale Factor for use with beam splitters; this allows display of the actual laser output and not just what is impinging on the sensor. The new Density function shows the power and/or energy density based on a user-defined spot size and shape. New multi-channel calculations include ratio (A/B), difference (A-B), and user defined formulae. A configuration panel makes setup quick and easy.

StarLab 2.00 collects data from Ophir-Spiricon's pyroelectric, thermal, and photodiode heads using any of the company's laser power/energy meters, PC interfaces, or combinations of the two:

  • Juno: USB laser sensor to PC interface; multiple devices connect up to eight (8) heads to one PC
  • USBI: USB laser sensor to PC interface
  • Vega: compact, stand-alone meter with bright, color display
  • Nova II: high definition, stand-alone meter with LCD display
  • Pulsar: high speed, multi-channel USB meter supports data logging to PC, up to 25,000 Hz
  • Quasar: wireless Bluetooth meter with range >10 meters to PC
