Everything Laser Can Do

In the specialist forum "Lasers in Action" at LASYS 2012 laser experts will present the scope of processing that is possible using this innovative tool

At LASYS 2012, the international trade fair for laser material processing, visitors will have the opportunity to obtain more information on laser technologies and applications in a complimentary specialist forum. "Lasers in Action" brings together experts from the laser industry on all three event days from 12 – 14 June and offers a comprehensive and diverse programme of case studies and applications and an overview of the different laser technologies.

Company representatives will present a broad range of examples of laser material processing in over 25 presentations. The advantages of using high-performing femtosecond lasers for industrial microprocessing and mobile high-performing laser processing for large workpieces will be explained, for example. But also the topics of laser microwelding of polymers and the cutting of any type of material using medium pulsed CO2 lasers will be examined. Those looking for a solution for glass processing can obtain information in a presentation on cutting display glass using picosecond lasers. And for users requiring a marking solution, the presentation on laser marking in North-American medical technology will be forward-looking. Other fields of applications include the manufacture of tanks and boilers and the formation of lens with help of diffractive rays for efficient microprocessing.

The third day focuses on laser technology in the automotive industry. New applications in automotive technology and new perspectives for the design of lightweight vehicles using defined welding depths and connection widths of steel-aluminium composites welded in different ways using laser will be presented. Finally, even more stable current amplifiers for short-pulse lasers and closed loops for laser welding processes will be showcased.

The event is free of charge and organised by Europa Science with the trade journal "Laser Systems Europe" together with support from the Laser Institute of America and Messe Stuttgart.

Further information on LASYS:
LASYS 2012 will take place from 12 – 14 June at the Stuttgart trade fair grounds. Approximately 200 exhibitors are expected. Innovations and further developments in laser technology; in particular machines, processes and services, including laser-specific machine subsystems, will be shown. LASYS appeals specifically to users and providers of laser material processing and is aimed at all industries and suitable for all types of material and is thus unique in the trade fair landscape. Young innovative companies can exhibit at LASYS 2012 for the first time by making use of the funding provided by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (BMWi). Further information is available at: www.bafa.de and www.foerderdatenbank.de.

Synergy effects for visitors of LASYS 2012 are expected from the user-oriented events taking place parallel to LASYS. For example the European Automotive Components, Engine Expo, Automotive Interiors Expo, Vehicle dynamics Expo and Automotive Testing Expo trade fairs, organised by the British organiser UKIP Media & Events Ltd., will take place for the first time alongside LASYS, and O&S, the international trade fair for surface treatments and coatings, is still held parallel to LASYS.
