A Fit-For-Purpose Velocimeter Optimizes Press Processing

The PD Series adopts Canon's unique "Profile Matching Method" for measurement, acquiring approximately 4,000 images/sec of the target object using a line sensor, correlating (matching) the captured images (profiles), and calculating the displacement.

This method ensures precise and stable measurements. It also contributes significantly to the efficient and uniform conveyance of materials along a production line, allowing manufacturers to provide steady, stable supply while fostering substantial improvements in productivity and cost reduction at the site.

Since measurement with the PD series is possible without physical contact, challenges such as damage to the target object, measurement errors due to friction, or slippage that occurs in contact-type measurements are eliminated. The target objects for measurement vary widely, including steel materials, paper, wires, construction materials, textiles, food, and more. However, the difficulty of measurements varies depending on the materials’ surface condition and the measurement environment.
