Lumics 4W Fiber Laser Offers Up To 0.8mJ Pulse Energy

Berlin, Germany - Lumics, a manufacturer of fiber coupled laser modules expands its product line with a more powerful pulsed fiber laser unit which offers up to 0.8mJ pulse energy (average power 4W). The LU1060F400 is a short pulse Ytterbium fiber laser in Master Oscillator Power Amplifier (MOPA) configuration. The laser operation mode can be changed by selecting customer specific pulse parameters via a conventional USB computer interface.

The laser emits at a wavelength from 1060 to 1080nm from a fiber with 25um core. The optical output features a very high beam quality. The fiber is specified at a standard length of 1.5m terminated with FC/APC connector. Optional collimator and focuser as well as metal armored cable are available. The key parameters such as the output power, pulse energy, repetition rate and pulse width can be set through a USB interface from Windows PC application. The laser can be operated with a simple TTL control interface.

Fiber lasers offer many advantages over conventional laser technology. The high beam quality is delivered in a flexible fiber, the limited number of components guarantee a maintenance-free operation and a high reliability. The compact size of the LU1060F400 device allows an easy integration into existing equipment.

The LU1060F400 laser is specified with an average output power of 4W. The pulse energy is rated with 0.8mJ at 5kHz repetition rate and 100ns pulse width. The repetition rate is adjustable from 5 - 100kHz. The pulse width can be selected from 30 - 400ns. The TTL control interface is specified with a DB9 connector. The robust industry type housing is supplied with an external power supply and driver software. Dimensions in mm are 284 x 180 x 50 (L x W x H). The high performance of the device is based on Lumics proprietary chip technology which ensures very high reliability and high power based on a breakthrough in diode laser chip facet passivation.
