ANAHEIM, CALIFORNIA, January 18, 2000 — Demonstrating the power of the AKG Acoustics Emotion Series to deliver consistency and performance in live sound applications — and at the same time literally setting the stage for the new AKG Emotion 2 Series — up-and-coming alternative rock group Five Easy Pieces have chosen AKG Emotion D770 vocal mics for their busy performance schedule throughout the Los Angeles' club scene. The band, which first made a name for itself playing three-hour sets in Southern California bars and clubs finally found a set of microphones that could keep up with the marathon pace of its live shows.

"We've been using the AKG microphones for a long time," says Five Easy Pieces frontman Marc Dauer, "and they've always provided us with the sound and durability that we demand to successfully put on our shows." While Dauer cites the D112 as the "standard" for in kick drum microphones, he explains that the AKG D770s have also lived up to AKG's reputation of developing quality microphones for live sound applications. "I love using the D770s live … for me they offer more high end while maintaining a clear sound even when I get a little loud."

What's more, the AKGs have also survived the tests that often arise while touring, including an accidental plunge from the back of a moving truck. "It wasn't my proudest moment," remarks Dauer, "but we neglected to close the back of our van after a packing up from a show one night. We turned around a couple of miles down the road and came back to find some of our gear still sitting in the parking lot where it fell out. I was happy to discover our microphones survived the fall none the worse for wear," laughs Dauer.
