Vince Cable, Secretary Of State For Business, Innovation And Skills Opens New Gooch & Housego (Torquay) Office And Manufacturing Facilities

Gooch & Housego (Torquay) Ltd, the UK fiber optic component, photonic packaging and laser module division of Gooch & Housego PLC, welcomed Dr. Vince Cable, UK Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills on Thursday 14 November.

G&H have expanded office and manufacturing capacity at the Torquay plant to meet increased demand for its products and were proud to welcome Dr Cable to open the new facilities. Dr Cable visited G&H with local MP Adrian Sanders as part of a tour of innovative businesses in the Torbay area.

According to Gooch & Housego (Torquay) General Manger Graham Catley:
“Dr Cable visiting our facility and opening our new factory extension was an honor for Gooch & Housego and a reward for all the staff who have contributed to our growth, innovation and diversification. Our business has gone through a transformation in the last 10 years from a telecoms component manufacturer to a Photonics Solutions provider and the recent launch of the Systems Technology Group in Torquay will further enhance this growth.”

In cutting the ribbon on the extension to the factory Dr Cable commented “G&H (Torquay) is a prime example of the type of business which the government can collaborate with to deliver growth in our economy with its focus on technology, innovation and export.”
