Photon Achieves NIST Traceability For Its Entire Beam Profiling Product Line

San Jose, CA – Photon has adopted a fully traceable calibration procedure for its entire product line to standards maintained by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and becomes the first and only manufacturer of beam profiling instrumentation to offer NIST traceable equipment. The NIST traceable parameters measured by Photon's equipment includes Beam Diameter, Numerical Aperture, Beam Centroid Position, and Mode-Field Diameter. NIST traceability is critical to establishing quality programs, such as those based on the International Standards Organization (ISO), where traceability to a National Standards Laboratory must be documented.

NIST traceability is established through a chain of measurements originating with a NIST standard reference material. A procedure was developed for each product in Photon's entire product line to establish NIST traceability. Photon maintains an internal measurement assurance program for calibration of all new shipments, and all existing Photon equipment will become NIST traceable when calibrated using Photon's NIST traceable calibration procedures.
