OSA Partners With China's CIOMP On Optical Engineering Summer Session

The Optical Society (OSA) recently announced they will again collaborate with the Changchun Institute of Optics, Fine Mechanics and Physics (CIOMP) to host the second CIOMP-OSA Summer Session.  This year’s session, to be held in Changchun, China Aug. 4-9, will focus on optical engineering, design and manufacturing. The summer school program provides an opportunity for graduate students to present their own research to their peers, learn from an international group of accomplished speakers, and network with other students in the field of optics.

Confirmed speakers include:

  • Pierre Chavel, Inst. d'Optique Lab Fabry, France
  • G.W. Forbes, QED Technologies Inc., Australia
  • Juan C. Miñano, Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, Spain
  • Jannick P. Rolland, University of Rochester, USA
  • Kevin P. Thompson, Synopsys, Inc., USA
  • Yongtian Wang, Beijing Institute of Technology, China
  • James C. Wyant, University of Arizona, USA
  • Xuejun Zhang, Changchun Institute of Optics, Fine Mechanics and Physics, China

“OSA is proud to partner with CIOMP on this important program supporting international education,” said OSA President Donna Strickland. “CIOMP is known as the ‘cradle of China’s optics,’ and our partnership with this well-known institute provides a unique opportunity for the next generation of scientists and engineers to share their accomplishments, discuss recent advances, exchange information and learn from each other and the distinguished speakers.”

Visit the Summer Session website for program and application details. The deadline for students to apply to attend is May 3.
