Detectors For LIDAR Systems

Detectors For LIDAR Systems

Hamamatsu offers a wide selection of detectors for LIDAR systems. They include Si PIN photodiodes and APDs sensitive to 905 nm or 1064 nm, as well as InGaAs PIN photodiodes and APDs with high sensitivity to 1550 nm. We also offer CMOS image sensors that measure distances of several meters for 3D LIDAR imaging, and PMTs and MPPCs (silicon photomultipliers) for LIDAR systems operating in the visible wavelength region. AOTF Spectral Imaging For Cancer Detection
By Alex Fong, VP, Life Sciences, Gooch & Housego PLC
This application note describes how Gooch & Housego used an AOTF (Acousto-Optic Tunable Filter)-based imaging system to examine traditionally stained clinical pathology samples in order to provide significantly more information and aid in more accurate interpretation of cervical cancer tests.

Spotlight On LIDAR Applications

High-Speed Solid State Detectors For Low-Light Level Applications
The C30902 and C30921 series of high-speed solid state detectors are ideal for low-light level applications involving LIDAR, bar code scanning, range finding, photon counting, and small-signal fluorescence.

Avalanche Photodiodes For LIDAR Applications
To meet the growing need for laser-based distance measurement, laser scanning and mapping, shape recognition, and remote sensing, avalanche photodiodes (APD) suitable for LIDAR are needed. APDs are used for applications with very low optical signal strength or with high modulation frequencies.

Narrow Linewidth Semiconductor Laser
The EM750 is a narrow linewidth semiconductor laser with ultra-low noise, stability, and tunability. Typical laser linewidth can be of the order of 1 GHz, though some low-power CW lasers can achieve less than 1 kHz. The EM750 has the ability to reduce the linewidth to a typical value of less than 10 kHz.

EMCCD Camera
The Falcon Blue EMCCD camera has been designed to provide high sensitivity with higher frame rates, all while operating at lower wavelengths. It’s ideal for applications involving adaptive optics, astronomy, bio, calcium signaling, fluorescence imaging, spectroscopy, flow cytometry, and more.

Diode Pumped Laser For Material Processing
The Mesa Series of lasers is ideally suited for a broad range of scientific and industrial applications, including micromachining, where small kerf width and excellent edge quality are the most important process requirements.

Optical Components Group
Zygo’s Optical Components Group uses innovative and proprietary manufacturing technologies to create high-precision optical components through CNC glass machining and lightweighting, weighting, rotational/double-sided/MRF polishing, and thin film coating.
