The rotation type polishers available up to now forced all of the connectors being polished at the same time to pass through the same spots on the polishing film. Because of this, if there was even a small amount of abrasive particles or foreign substances that could result in a bad end face in one connector, the quality of the majority, if not all, of the connector end faces in the process would be affected adversely. In the ATP polisher series the polishing tracks can only affect the next connector over, so even if, by some chance, there is a foreign material on the film, there is no adverse affect on the other connectors. With our individual polishing track mechanism, the external quality of the connector end face produced means a realization of a heretofore unknown high polishing first pass rate.In addition, connecting the ATP-3000 to a PC allows you to align the polishing tracks, enabling you to get the optimum settings to match the special situations and specifications of any polishing procedure.
Because the polishing film can be cut in a square instead of a circle, and polishing can be done in straight lines covering more area that the conventional rotation polishers, there is almost no waste caused by having to discard unused sections of your polishing film.
As well, in polishing jigs for single fiber connectors such as the SC type, through the already proven ATP Series Independent Pressure System, the rough diamond polishing process to adjust the connector and ferrule height is no longer necessary. So low reflection PC polishing of single fiber connectors can be completed with just the 3 steps of; 1) adhesive removal, 2) fine diamond, and 3) ADS silica finishing.
