Lumics Introduces Mini DIL Pump Laser With 220W

Berlin, Germany — Lumics, a manufacturer of pump laser modules and laser chips, recently announced the improved version of the successful 980nm Mini-DIL pump laser product line. The next generation LU0977M200-2002F41A uncooled pump laser modules are specified with kink-free power up to 220mW from 0 to 70C operating power.

The Mini DIL pump laser module operates without a thermoelectric cooler over a broad temperature range. The uncooled operation greatly reduces the total power consumption of the pump laser module. The module uses the very small Mini-DIL package to operate over 0° to 70°C temperature range (Tcase). The package footprint is just 7 x 13mm with a maximum height of 5mm. The coolerless modules are designed for use in fiber amplifiers deployed in high-speed optical telecommunications networks. Mini-DIL pump lasers allow a significant reduction in the size and power consumption of EDFAs and can be used in conjunction with high power cooled pump laser modules.

The Mini-DIL pump LU0977M200-2002F41A features low FIT rates. The module is Telcordia qualified for up to 200mW operating power. The pump performance over the temperature range is maintained by fiber Bragg grating (FBG) wavelength locking. The high performance of the device is based on Lumics proprietary chip technology which ensures very high reliability with a breakthrough in laser facet passivation. Products samples are available now.
