LASER World Of PHOTONICS 2011 - Focus On Optical Technology Applications
Optical technologies will be the central theme of the LASER World of PHOTONICS trade fair and World of Photonics Congress, to be held concurrently from May 23 to 26, 2011. These dates are one month earlier than usual. The trade fair and congress are unique because together they cover the entire spectrum and every application area of optical technologies.
The focus topics at the trade fair will be lasers and laser systems for manufacturing, green photonics, biophotonics and life sciences.
Experts from science and industry will present current developments and applications, showing how key technologies from all industry sectors can create potential for companies to offer new solutions, work more efficiently or attain higher quality.
Focus topics - on the pulse of the times
The trade fair has traditionally featured lasers and laser systems for manufacturing, and this focus has evolved into the world's leading venue for this segment. It attracts visitors from automobile manufacturing, mechanical engineering, microproduction, toolmaking, job order production, the aerospace industry, the photovoltaic industry and the electronics industry.
The topics in green photonics will include energy and the environment, photovoltaics, lighting, energy efficiency and climate protection. Exhibitors will show how optical technologies substantially contribute to efficient production and energy conservation, where they are used for renewable energies and how they can optimize measuring and test technology.
The third focus topic will be biophotonics and life sciences. A large number of innovations in medicine and life sciences would be impossible without optical technologies. During the trade fair, research institutes and companies will present the new applications, methods and processes in biophotonics. The Biophotonics Forum and the "European Conferences on Biomedical Optics" (ECBO) will also show current achievements and future possibilities.
Applications in the area of security and defense will be examined for the first time at the trade fair as a separate topic. Exhibitors here will present laser applications from aerospace, for example displays for civil aviation, stabilization systems and defense systems.
World of Photonics Congress - Bridge between research and industry
The six conferences held by the World of Photonics Congress are organized by well known international organizations. As the most important international photonics congress, the World of Photonics Congress is a networking and knowledge forum for the transfer of know-how between science and industry.
The Congress program will include a new event, "Optofluidics", organized by the European Optical Society (EOS). The Optical Metrology Conference includes a new subconference, "Videometrics" in addition to its traditional program contents.
With the series of application panels and its practical talks in the exhibition halls, the Congress will create a link between research and industry, so that questions are turned into solutions and specific projects.
About LASER World of PHOTONICS
LASER World of PHOTONICS is regarded as the home base of the photonics industry. According to a survey conducted by Infratest, 98% of exhibitors and 97% of visitors were extremely satisfied with the trade fair and intend to return in 2011. In addition to business objectives, the cultivation of contacts in the industry plays a very important role for all participants.
LASER World of PHOTONICS has been held every two years since 1973. In 2009 it attracted 1,034 exhibitors and 25,365 visitors. The number of exhibitors and visitors from outside Germany has risen continuously and is presently 57% for exhibitors and 51% for visitors.
A sister event, LASER World of PHOTONICS China, is the leading regional trade show for optical technologies in China. It takes place in Shanghai every year in March.
Claudia Sixl, Project Group Leader for LASER World of PHOTONICS at Messe München, explains the special nature of this event: "Due to the close connection between industry and research at an international level and the fact that LASER World of PHOTONICS covers the entire spectrum of optical technologies from components and systems through to application areas, we offer unique advantages. These advantages have become indispensable in a tough competitive environment with which our customers are now faced. This fact is also recognized by all the leading names in the industry through their attendance at LASER World of PHOTONICS." For more information, visit www.world-of-photonics.net.
About the World of Photonics Congress
The World of Photonics Congress, Europe's largest photonics conference, is organized with the cooperation of the world's leading photonics organizations. This conference will be held May 22 to 26, 2010, concurrently with the LASER World of PHOTONICS trade fair. The World of Photonics Congress conferences include:
- CLEO/Europe-EQEC, organized by the European Physical Society (EPS)
- Optofluidics and Manufacturing of Optical Components, organized by the European Optical Society (EOS)
- LIM - Lasers In Manufacturing, organized by the Scientific Laser Society (WLT)
- ECBO-European Conference on Biomedical Optics, organized by SPIE and the Optical Society of America (OSA)
- Optical Metrology, organized by SPIE Europe
- Application Panels - practical applications of lasers and photonics, organized by Messe München.
The LASER exhibition and congresses are the most important marketplace and think tank for the worldwide laser and photonics industry. Together, the events combine research and applications, and promote utilization and further development of optical technologies. For more information, visit: www.photonics-congress.com.
