ICC 2008, To Occur May 19-23 In Beijing, Will Encompass Latest Thinking In Communications And Networking
New York The 2008 IEEE International Conference on Communications (ICC 2008) will be held from May 19 to 23 in Beijing, China. Under the theme "Communications: Faster-Higher-Stronger," it will offer symposia, tutorials, workshops, panel discussions and application sessions on the latest technical and business issues in communications and networking.
Sponsored by the IEEE Communications Society (IEEE ComSoc), the nine technical symposia at ICC 2008 will present current research and development results in such areas as networks and the Internet, communications QoS, communication software and services, security, optical networks, and wireless communications and networking. A general symposium will address topics not covered in specific technical symposia.
The conference keynote presentations will be delivered by the CEOs of China Mobile and China Telecom, as well as by Professor H. Vincent Poor of Princeton University and Dr. Bob Iannucci, senior vice president and chief technology officer of Nokia.
The half-day tutorials will provide practical information in a broad range of communication areas from cognitive radio networks, ultrawide bandwidth systems and automotive networking and telematics to cognitive and cooperative wireless networks and peer-to-peer communications. The conference will also include 11 workshops on the 19th and 23rd and eight panel discussions, including those on "Wireless Sensor Networks," "Transport Protocols in Next Generation Communications," "A Futuristic Look into the Global Mobile Landscape" and "Challenges and Future Directions for Vehicular Communications and Networks."
An exhibit promoting the cooperative efforts between China and the rest of the world in communications will be held adjacent to ICC 2008 at the Beijing International Convention Center. It will display innovations in many areas, including those involving mobile telecom systems, CDMA, GSM, 3G, satellite telecom systems, optical, Internet, data, video conferencing, and wireless communications.
ICC, one of the IEEE ComSoc's flagship conferences, is an annual event dedicated to furthering the understanding of communications areas currently under research and to fostering next-generation theories and practices.
