Optical mirrors are subjected to extremely rigorous performance requirements. Each mirror must have excellent thermal stability for subjection to temperature changes, superior surface quality, and remarkably high transmission. BOROFLOAT®, the world’s first borosilicate glass by SCHOTT, meets these demanding requirements and is now being used for advanced optics all over the globe. Download the full white paper for more about BOROFLOAT®, how it is used in the Hobby Eberly Telescope (HET), and its exceptional optical and thermal properties.
