2.3‑GHz Deschutes BSI™ Photoreceiver with 75‑µm Backside-Illuminated R APD: RIC1‑JJAC

Source: Voxtel, Inc.
Voxtel's RIC1‑JJAC is a near infrared (NIR) photoreceiver incorporating a low-noise transimpedance amplifier (TIA) and a thermoelectrically (TE)-cooled backside-illuminated (BSI) InGaAs/InAlAs (950–1700 nm) reduced excess noise APD (R‑APD).

The RIC1‑JJAC is the 75‑µm-diameter version of Voxtel's RIC1‑1000 series of high-sensitivity photoreceivers. This photoreceiver incorporates Voxtel's Deschutes BSI™ VFC1‑JBZA R‑APD.

The backside-illuminated operation allows the Deschutes BSI™ R‑APDs both higher responsivity and lower capacitance than competing front-side-illuminated APDs. The R‑APD is custom-engineered for reduced excess noise, which allows this photoreceiver to achieve high sensitivity and low bit error rates (BERs). A single-stage thermoelectric (TE) cooler is included to eliminate temperature-induced gain variation and allow optimal performance over the range of application environments.
