Hamamatsu Corporation has introduced two new X-ray imaging modules that are ideal for intraoral X-ray imaging and dental diagnosis, and which can also be used for general X-ray imaging and non-destructive imaging. Each module comprises a full-frame transfer CCD with GOS scintillator, cable assembly, and X-ray trigger circuit. The S10128 incorporates the 2-megapixel S8986 sensor (1700 x 1200 active pixels), while the S10127 is built around the 1.5-megapixel S8982 (1500 x 1000 active pixels). Both modules are easy to use, and offer excellent image quality and durability.

The S10128 and S10127 can produce images that are remarkably clear from edge to edge, free of unwanted halo effects, as a result of Hamamatsu's manufacturing processes. Active imaging areas are 34 x 24 mm with the S10128 and 30 x 20 mm with the S10127, and both modules provide image resolution up to 10 lp/mm. Other key sensor characteristics include a pixel pitch of 20 µm with 100% fill factor, 12-bit dynamic range, low dark current in MPP mode, and low readout noise. Sensor thickness, excluding I/O connectors, is only 4.9 mm.

Another key advantage of the S10128 and S10127 is their reliability. Each module has an extremely durable cable and is designed to withstand use of up to 100,000 shots (at 60 kVp, 30 mR). Both modules may be used with either AC or DC X-ray sources.
