HeatBuster® Hot Mirror Coatings
Deposition Sciences, Inc. (DSI)Datasheet: HeatBuster® Hot Mirror Coatings
The Super HeatBuster® Hot Mirror coatings are multi-layer, all dielectric thin film coatings that are used for managing infrared heat generated by high wattage optical light source systems, and are designed to separate the infrared heat from the visible light energy. The infrared energy is reflected by the hot mirror. The visible spectrum is transmitted through the optic. In addition to reflecting the infrared energy, the Super HeatBuster® hot mirror also rejects the ultra violet energy. R = 95 % average of the infrared heat from 730nm to 1500nm; while transmitting T = 85 % average of the visible from 420nm to 680nm; and blocking the ultra violet transmission T = 1.0% of the UV from 200nm to 380nm. The heat generated can then be removed from the cooling system. A gap between the hot mirror and the reflector allows adequate cooling.
Applications:
Hot Mirrors are used in a variety of applications including LCD and film projectors, entertainment lighting systems, medical instruments, fiber
optics, printers, enlargers, photo etching, fluoresce studies, ink and plastic curing, materials aging, lighted switches, instrument panel
lighting, and night vision compatible systems. Our Super HeatBuster® hot mirrors are generally produced on flat substrates, and are not
generally applied to curved substrates (reflectors). Effective applications include fiber optic light generator systems, medical illumination
systems, decorative lighting systems, dental curing systems, solar simulation systems, and all other lighting systems where controlling the
infrared heat is mandatory.
