About Us

Spectrum Detector: "We have over 60 years of combined experience in optical and thermal detectors, laser power and energy meters, custom photonic instrumentation, and NIST traceable calibration methods", stated Don Dooley, past President of Spectrum Detector, and now General Manager of Gentec-eo USA, Inc.

We are proud to be part of Gentec Electro-Optics. Our products and technology are highly synergistic. We're a company with a wealth of experience based on a Senior Technical Staff. We understand lasers, sensors, electronics, measurement and calibration methodology. We pride ourselves in the creation and development of unique laser instrumentation that provides the best solution to measuring the optical power or energy of your source.

We've developed a wide selection of products including Hybrid Pyroelectric Detectors, Laser Power Meters, Laser Energy Meters, Optical Power Meters, Broadband Pyroelectric Radiometers and THz Detectors and Instruments. Our mach 5 100kHz Joulemeter sets the standard for measurement of high rep rate lasers.

We work closely with the National Institute of Standards and Technology to keep abreast of the latest calibration technology and methods. We have developed a number a custom calibration standards for the Radiometric Detector Group at NIST Gaithersburg.

We have designed and built a number of custom calibration standards for NIST Gaithersburg including Temperature controlled Pyro Radiometers, Thermally compensated Optical Detectors for Photon detector calibration, Precision thermally stable preamplifier standards, to name a few.

In the past 2 years we've pushed the state of the art in Pyroelectric Detectors for Broadband and THz Radiometry.

We pride ourselves on working closely with you, our customer, to provide the best technical solution to your challenging optical measurement needs.
