About Us
Since 1986 MERCRON Inc. has developed a reputation as the machine vision light experts for the Machine Vision Illumination industry by providing machine vision lighting solutions for: High-Speed Scanning, Color Imaging, and High-Resolution QA/QC Inspections Systems, using ordinary industrial light-sources.

Controlling the light - not just the lamp > A real difference!
MERCRON specializes in high frequency lamp ballasts (we call them lamp controllers) for Fluorescent, especially apertures, UV and IR, high-pressure Sodium, Mercury / Metal Halide, and Tungsten light-sources for machine vision illumination applications. Based on our patented, real-time optical feedback feature, MERCRON lamp controllers have managed to do what no other lamp ballast has done: regulate the light itself – not just the lamp – to within ¼ % of the required intensity, thus compensating for any disturbance in the light level.

Not just more “bells & whistles”:
Additionally, MERCRON’s controllers offer many indispensable features:

  • Wide-ratio, variable dimming - from 5%-100% without damaging the lamps;
  • “All’s well” signal to notify the user when the light “falls out” of regulation;
  • Remote control capability
  • No 60-Hz ripple

Machine Vision lighting - more than a matter of brightness degree or color.
Fact 1) Guaranteed IMAGING QUALITY requires absolutely stable light - truly “ripple-free”, steady as sunshine! Otherwise, the usable resolution of the camera is reduced by the degree of the light’s inconsistency and the lack of uniformity within the machine vision system.

Fact 2) Light- source instability is the fundamental cause of poor image quality; so this is where MERCRON’s expertise in machine vision lighting comes in. We had the customer in mind when we specially designed our lamp controllers to produce maintenance-free, regulated light, i.e., “set it and forget it”, programmable light within the machine vision system.

Granted, there are ramifications to non-regulated light.
But among the less obvious advantages of truly regulated light with MERCRON is the experience of cost-saving benefits of instantly responsive machine vision light-level control:

  • Lamp replacement is notably reduced;
  • Expensive downtime is minimized
  • Image quality is constantly maximized
  • “False-rejects” due to lighting are virtually eliminated

No false claim:
Save time and money with MERCRON. And by all means, feel free to call anytime for a free “Q&A” session about any lighting concern. You’ll be glad you did – and so will we!
