Andor Technology is a leader in scientific imaging and spectroscopy. Headquartered in Belfast, Northern Ireland the company develops and manufactures a range of high performance digital cameras and their associated products that support global customers. Using Andor products these customers can break new ground by performing experiments that were previously considered impossible. Independently conducted customer research confirms that Andor’s low light solutions are considered world beating.
Today Andor has a portfolio of over 70 products, which are employed in fields as diverse as drug discovery, toxicology analysis, medical diagnosis, food quality testing and defense. Thanks to new techniques developed by Andor scientists, Andor cameras can measure light down to just one photon and can also measure light occurring in very short time resolutions – within 1 billionth of a second.
Andor products form an integral part of our industrial partners instrumentation and has sold cameras and detectors into 9 of the top 20 global industry leaders over the last three years in the areas of Spectroscopic instruments, Life Sciences, Surface Science Instruments and X-Ray.
Spectroscopic instruments are used for various scientific techniques such as Raman fluorescence, ICP and Arc Spark and applications in areas such as process control, quality control and forensic analysis.
Life Sciences solutions are used in high throughput screening, genomics, genetic and proteomic analysis.
Surface science techniques are primarily devoted to the microscopic analysis of material surfaces and are used by the semiconductor and electronics industry as well as the aerospace, metals and polymer industries. Some of the techniques are also being used in the life science applications for examining live cells and tissue samples.
X-Ray instruments are used in medical imaging applications or industrial testing. X-ray diffraction is a non-destructive technique that probes properties of solids; particularly crystals and powders made of small-scale crystals.
World Class Research and manufacturing Facilities

Andor's Corporate Headquarters are in Belfast, Northern Ireland. As well as our manufacturing and research capabilities, Belfast also has a dedicated sales team with regional offices across Europe.

Operating in a global market, Andor also has operations in the US and Asia. Our US headquarters are in Connecticut with regional sales offices across the US. Our Asia Pacific operations are serviced through our headquarters in Tokyo, Japan. To complement our direct sales force Andor has over 20 global distributors. We now sell our low light solution in over 40 countries round the world.
Andor's superior vacuum process UltraVac ensures that our cameras have no vacuum failures, no leaks, no maintenance and no repumping. The UltraVac process takes place with a class 10,000 clean room. This means there are fewer than 10,000 particles of less than 0.5mm dimension per cubic meter. The air is fully replenished every minute and the temperature and humidity are controlled. All personnel must wear body suits, overshoes and a hat. All clothing is woven with carbon fiber to reduce static.
Research Focus
Andor has sold digital camera solutions into many of the world’s leading academic and research establishments over the last two decades. Many scientists and researchers are now discovering new ways of seeing thanks to the technologies Andor has developed. Our range of world beating imaging and spectroscopy cameras are used across the spectrum of scientific disciplines including Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Astronomy. Applications include Raman, NIR, LIBS, Bose Einstein, Calcium Flux imaging, 4/5 D Microscopy, Adaptive optics and X-Ray.

OEM / instrumentation Capability
Andor is dedicated to providing commercial organizations and OEMs with innovative, advanced and versatile CCD, EMCCD and ICCD detectors and spectrographs. With years of academic and industrial experience, Andor now provides cameras to nine of the top twenty Instrumentation companies around the world. Our OEM experts specialize in the creation of complete system solutions, from tailored collection optics and spectrographs to software that gives you the levels of control and functionality you require - whether you are creating a brand new analytical device, or incorporating new functionality into an existing configuration.

Andor runs many quality improvement programs including some focused on its manufacturing process and yield improvement. The Company has operated a quality management system since 1998 which currently complies with the requirements of BS EN ISO9001:2000 since 1998 and has other accreditations including the Investors in People accreditation.
