Zygo’s Super Finishing Capabilities

ZYGO offers Super Finishing capabilities that produce extremely smooth surfaces over a wide power spectral density band. They also offer a Super Polishing process capable of producing a surface roughness of less than 0.1 nm over spatial periods ranging from 10 nm to 1 mm.

ZYGO is able to meet stringent specifications for all of their precision optics. Super finished surfaces are ideal for applications where it is crucial to reduce the scattering of light as it passes through, or reflects from, the surface of an optic. Zygo’s super finished surfaces can be beneficial in applications using short wavelengths, photolithography, Fabry-Perot etalons, instruments for high-performance telescopes, and many other uses.

Key Super Finishing Features:

  • <1Å over a wide band of spatial periods (10 nm to 1 mm)
  • Can be performed on any size optic, up to meter-class
  • Materials: Fused Silica, Sapphire, YAG, etc.
