Saving The Lens For Last?

Designers have been known to “save the lens for last” when creating vision systems with very specific black box dimensions, and lighting, resolution, and pixel specifications. When this happens, the lens needed to fulfill the design is sometimes not available, or not even possible to create. As a solution to this dilemma, Stuart Singer and Jim Sullivan of Schneider Optics offer a new and improved design approach called concurrent engineering. Concurrent engineering is when project designers engage in upfront planning with camera experts, lens leaders, and lighting professionals all at the same time in order to get the project off on the right foot.
