Laser Measurement System For Laser-Based Additive Manufacturing: BeamWatch® AM
Ophir's BeamWatch AM is an integrated laser measurement system for measuring critical laser beam parameters in laser-based additive manufacturing systems. Simultaneous, real-time measurements are performed at video rates and are available for multiple profiles along the beam caustic in the camera field-of-view.
The real-time performance characteristics of the BeamWatch® AM allows for dynamic focal shift measurements during laser startup. Utilized measurement techniques are based on Rayleigh scattering of laser light, providing an equivalent slit-scan of the laser beam in the direction of the observed view. A CCD camera is included for spatial measurements of the scattered light, and a NIST-traceable power sensor delivers the complete analysis of the laser density profile.
