Infra-Red MTF System – Beam-Steering Type

Source: Image Science Ltd

The Infra-Red MTF System measures the Modulation Transfer Function (MTF) of thermal imaging lenses and telescopes in both the 3-5 um and 8-12 um wavelength bands. Other optical parameters, such as Effective Focal Length (EFL), Distortion, and Field Curvature also may be measured.

The Beam Steering System has the advantage that the lens under test can be mounted directly onto the optical table, and thus the mounting of large systems is not a problem. This configuration also has the advantage that focal systems can be easily tested by the addition of a small swinging arm module. This is shown in the photograph.
