Ruggedized, high-resolution digital HD and beyond CMOS cameras to upgrade from CCD to expand identification capabilities in low light

BOSTON, Mass. – April 12, 2016 --  Adimec (www.adimec.com), a world leader in application-specific, leading-edge industrial camera solutions, will showcase its portfolio of vision products and technology optimized for the global security market at the 2016 edition of the SPIE Defense and Security Symposium event in Baltimore, MD., held April 19th through April 21st. The company will display and discuss the enhancements to its TMX series of rugged full HD and beyond COTS cameras to provide full motion video in daylight on airborne payloads, long-range observations systems, and other sensor system architectures.

The new TMX50 and the TMX52 are rugged extended day cameras with global shutter CMOS technology.  The TMX50 offers 2464 x 2056 resolution at 40 fps with the 2/3” IMX250 image sensor and the TMX52 provides 2064 x 1544 resolution at 60 fps with the 1/1.8” IMX252 image sensor. These cameras add to the monochrome and color TMX series including the TMX74-60 with the 1/1.2” IMX174 image sensor for full HD resolution of 1920 by 1080 at 60 full fps. All provide excellent color imaging from low to high light scenes with optimal contrast reproduction, even beyond what is capable with state-of-the-art CCD cameras.

Adimec’s Adaptive Resolution functionality eliminates the concerns with the smaller pixel size of CMOS image sensors and the need to change optics. Adaptive Resolution is proprietary interpolation algorithms in the camera to adapt CMOS pixels to deliver equivalent or better image quality as CCD at the same field of view.  The new CMOS pixels outperform CCD pixels of the same size with higher sensitivity, higher dynamic range, and higher MTF (especially for Bayer RGB color).  An additional benefit is digital zoom capability.

Other key characteristics of the TMX cameras include a rugged design (MIL-STD-810H qualified) for harsh outdoor conditions; operating capabilities in a wide range of temperatures (-40℃ to +75℃); video enhancement, NIR sensitivity, light weight, and low power consumption. The interface options available include Camera Link, CoaXPress, and 3G-SDI.  Adimec’s rugged cameras offer extremely low failure rates, configuration control, and comprehensive obsolescence mitigation for long-term programs.

Visit Adimec in Booth #526 on the exhibition floor to see the TMX50 camera and Adaptive Resolution in action.  We will also discuss ultra high-definition (UHDTV) solutions that will be available later this year.
