The RDC1‑NJAC is the 200‑µm-diameter version of Voxtel's RDC-1000 series of high-sensitivity photoreceivers. The RDC1‑NJAC is the highest-speed, lowest noise 200‑µm- APD photoreceiver available, which makes it ideal for laser rangefinders, laser designators, free-space optical communication, optical instrumentation, and LADAR/LIDAR applications.
The receiver integrates Voxtel's 200‑µm Deschutes BSI™ backside illuminated R‑APD (model VFC1‑NBZA) with a low-noise, high-bandwidth transimpedance amplifier (TIA). The backside-illuminated operation of the Deschutes BSI™ detectors provides both higher responsivity and lower capacitance than competing frontside-illuminated APDs.
The R‑APD is custom-engineered for reduced excess noise, which allows this photoreceiver to achieve higher sensitivity, better signal-to-noise (STN) performance, and lower bit error rates (BERs) than conventional telecom APDs. A single-stage thermoelectric (TE) cooler is included to eliminate temperature-induced gain variability and to allow stable performance over the range of application environments.
Applications:
- Laser range finding
- Free-space optical communications
- LADAR/LIDAR
- Optical time domain reflectometry
- Optical coherence tomography
- Fluorescence measurements, spectroscopy, chromatography and electrophoresis
- Telecommunications
Options:
- Fiber-optic pigtail inputs with the variety of standard fiber connectors
- Support Electronics Boards, including power conditioning and TEC control
