Gooch & Housego Increases Capacity In Fibre-Q Product Line To Meet Increasing Demand
Gooch & Housego, the global manufacturer of optical components and systems has increased capacity in its Fibre-Q acousto-optic modulator product line as demand continues to increase.
The Fibre-Q was designed to take fibre-coupled acousto-optic products to a new level, offering a reliable, rugged and compact package manufactured in a cost effective manner. Since its launch in 2008, the portfolio now includes hermetic and non-hermetic versions as well as options for polarization maintaining fibre and fast rise times. The product has also been put through the established G&H High Reliability process line to attain a version qualified for space applications.
Dr Andrew Robertson, Senior Vice President commented, “The idea behind the Fibre-Q was to create an industry standard component based on a scalable and well understood manufacturing platform that also provided superior performance to existing products. The use of a common manufacturing platform across all products offers clear economic benefits, particularly to OEM customers.”
Recent orders of over $1.3M, including two high volume OEM customers in the fibre laser market, has triggered the need to increase production capacity by adding additional production lines at the G&H Torquay fibre optics facility.
The Fibre-Q compliments G&H’s wide portfolio of components for the fibre laser market that includes fibre coupled isolators, fibre coupled frequency doubling (SHG) modules, as well as fused singlemode couplers and high power multimode combiners designed for powers up to the kW level.
