Spectral Imaging For Bioscience Applications: Band-Sequential Techniques
By Richard Levenson, Brighton Consulting Group, and Elliot Wachman and Alexandre Y. Fong, Gooch and Housego
Recent technological developments have renewed interest in spectral imaging in medical and biosciences applications, both in research and clinical arenas. Its potential to both observe and quantify multiparameter events at the molecular and cellular level may provide valuable insights into the basic mechanisms of life as well as providing valuable diagnostic or prognostic capabilities. While there are many approaches available, each technology has both advantages and limitations. Our objective is to present an overview of the hardware, critical software algorithms, and biochemistry involved in this context.
