Fiber Optic Cables with AR Coated End Faces

Laser Components introduces fiber optic cables with AR coated end faces which can reduce back reflections at the interface between glass and air by nearly 3% setting new standards in high power applications. These fiber optic cables with AR coatings significantly reduce coupling losses making them extremely effective in applications including power transmission, medical technology, and material processing. These new coated fibers have also proven to be advantageous when combined with laser diodes.

Laser Components offers complete fiber assemblies including the coating and will even coat fibers supplied by the customer. The fibers are coated using a physical vapor deposition (PVD) method commonly used in the laser industry. All desired wavelengths can be implemented. The coatings are available as single AR coatings (anti-reflection for a single wavelength), dual AR coatings (anti-reflection for two wavelengths), or broadband AR coatings (anti-reflection for a wide wavelength range). In principle, all fiber types can be equipped with an AR coating. It is crucial that all the materials used are suitable for use in a high-vacuum environment and do not outgas.
