A Versatile Optical Sensor For The Characterization Of Fluids
A Versatile Optical Sensor For The Characterization Of Fluids

Laser self-mixing is a technique usually used for the measurement of low velocities and vibrations. In a paper that has just been published in the journal Nuclear Instruments and Methods A, CI researchers present how these measurements can be extended to velocities of fluids using additional seeding particles.

Linear Variable VIS NIR Bandpass Filters For Hyperspectral Imaging
Linear Variable VIS NIR Bandpass Filters For Hyperspectral Imaging

Hyperspectral imaging (HSI) is used for many applications including satellite imaging and air reconnaissance. HSI is usually executed with bulky hyperspectral-imaging cameras that are sensitive to misalignment, very expensive, and use prisms or gratings as dispersive elements. An alternative method of HSI is the combination of linear variable bandpass filters (LVBPFs) with silicon detectors. This allows for very compact, robust, and affordable HSI detectors that offer several advantages over conventional approaches.

TECHNICAL ARTICLES

  • First Surface Mirrors

Conventional mirrors are constructed with a glass protective surface and a “silvering” second surface. In high precision applications, these second surface mirrors have distinct disadvantages such as refracted or bent images, loss of energy, a dim and distorted reflection, as well as a faint secondary reflection known as a “ghost image.” Abrisa offers front or first surface mirrors as a solution that provides clear reflections without ghosting. This application note introduces First Sensor surface mirrors, how they work, and their ideal applications.

  • CleanVue™ PRO – Series Of Oleophobic And Hydrophobic Coatings For Tough Environments

Abrisa’s new CleanVue™ PRO series of anti-reflection coatings are designed to combine improved handling, cleaning, water shedding, and robust performance with anti-reflective properties. This makes the coatings ideal for displays and optical windows intended for use in “tough” outdoor, high traffic, or other challenging environments. This series is both oleophobic and hydrophobic providing easy fingerprint removal and a non-smudge surface, while repelling water and other liquids for a simpler “view-ability.” The hydrophobic coating properties also reduce friction on the glass which provides improved surface “slickness” and enhances scratch resistance.
