The New Wms 40 Uhf Wireless System From Akg Acoustics: Top-Quality Wireless Has Never Been So Affordable!
February 16, 2001
Affordable pricing is complemented by equally affordable operating cost: the AKG WMS 40 transmitter will operate for more than 30 hours off a single set of two AA batteries.
ANAHEIM, CALIFORNIA, January 18, 2001 — Reaffirming its commitment to provide the MI market with innovation, quality and performance value at the most competitive price points, AKG Acoustics today announced the NAMM debut of the WMS 40 UHF wireless system, a full-featured UHF transmitter/receiver wireless system that represents a breakthrough in pricing for wireless products. At the same time, the WMS 40 features the same proven AKG quality, sound, ruggedness, and maximum reliability as all other AKG wireless systems. Thus, more applications than ever can now benefit from AKG's industry-leading wireless technology line of products.
The AKG WMS 40 UHF wireless system is laden with features usually found only on wireless systems costing far more. Like all AKG products, the SR 40 non-diversity
receiver offers a user-friendly control layout and provides a balanced XLR mic-level output and an unbalanced TS line-level output jack for easy interfacing with any conventional mixer or amplifier. Integrated SAW filters ensure exceptional immunity to interference, and an adjustable squelch suppresses unwanted noise. Two front panel LEDs indicate power and RF status. The side mouldings with integrated feet are removable and an optional rack mount kit enables the receiver to be installed in a standard 19-inch rack. A swiveling antenna is permanently mounted on the front panel.
The WMS 40's transmitters are equally feature-heavy. The HT 40 handheld transmitter uses a permanently mounted microphone element that is acoustically identical to that of AKG's Emotion Series D 880, a worldwide bestseller. The HT 40 is fitted with a multi-function ON/OFF/MUTE switch and integrated antenna. The PT 40 bodypack transmitter has been designed for use with both condenser and dynamic microphones as well as electric or electronic instruments. The transmitter is about the size of a cigarette package and includes ergonomics features including a new soft-touch enamel finish. A MIC/LINE selector and input level control are lodged inside the battery compartment.
But the news gets even better. As affordable as the AKG WMS 40 UHF wireless system is, its operational costs are lower than any other wireless system on the market. Thanks to advanced AKG design, the WMS 40 transmitter will operate for more than 30 hours off a single set of two AA size batteries. Furthermore, both the handheld transmitter and the bodypack use a AC/DC converter to stabilize the supply voltage so system performance will remain consistent throughout the entire battery life.
Each WMS 40 operates on a single, fixed frequency between 710 MHz and 865 MHz, so the system is ready for use without need for any adjustments, and it can still deliver a frequency response from 40 HZ to 20 kHz. (And in a package that weighs in at a mere 245 grams [8.7 oz.]). Up to three WMS 40 systems can be used simultaneously.
The AKG WMS 40 once again demonstrates AKG's unique ability to bridge the gap between the MI and pro audio industry markets, providing state-of-the-art technology at every day prices. In any wireless application, the new AKG WMS 40 UHF wireless system brings new levels of quality to new markets at the speed of sound.
