Reduced Costs With Basler's runner Line Scan Series

The Basler runner series includes seven models with 1k and 2k CCD sensors and screwable RJ-45 connectors for tight connections. The runner features a well established Gigabit Ethernet interface that is both GigE Vision and GenICam compliant. Integration is safe and simple. Camera users can quickly begin seeing results. Basler runner cameras have been tested and approved by all major image library suppliers and can easily be used with these libraries. Thanks to Gigabit Ethernet's advantages, the Basler runner family offers reduced costs and lower complexity compared to any system based on components designed for Camera Link. In the line, the frame grabber is eliminated and converter boxes are not necessary. Because each of these components costs several hundred Euros, great cost savings can be achieved. Low prices for Gigabit Ethernet cables compared to Camera Link cables reduce the costs even further.

FIBER OPTIC COMPONENTS

FIBER OPTIC COMPONENTS

AFL Introduces Thermal Rounding Techniques
Enables cleaving and splicing of shaped optical fibers

Shaped optical fibers are the predominant choice for optical amplifiers used in high-power fiber lasers. These noncircular fibers present unique challenges when it becomes necessary to cleave or fusion splice, as the available products are typically designed for use with round fibers.

Utilizing advanced software, AFL Telecommunications has developed techniques for rounding of these shaped fibers to allow the use of more standard tools and processes for cleaving and splicing these fiber types. The fiber is heated using the discharge electrodes of the fusion splicer while also translating the fiber along its axis. The fiber is then rotated and measured along its axis for non-circularity using the optical system of the splicer. Non-circularity results similar to that of standard, round optical fibers are produced, allowing the use of conventional tools and processes for cleaving and splicing.

Brimrose AOTF Hyperspectral Imaging Cameras and our modules are more than 700 times faster than standard camera video frame rates. There is no comparison of this unique AOTF (acousto-optic tunable filter) technology with archaic, slow, bulky filter wheel and slow, wavelength unstable, liquid crystal technology. Brimrose AOTF Hyperspectral Imagers operate in the UV, VIS, NIR, and Far-IR. This technology also lends itself easily to Hyperspectral Polarimetry.

Features inherent in AOTF technology are rapid switching, electronic control, and individual wavelength neutral density capability to reduce certain annoying or unwanted wavelengths. Also unique to AOTF technology is the ability to access multiple wavelengths simultaneously with independent intensity and range control.

Applications include telescopes and microscopes for biological, industrial, chemical, robotic, and military requirements.

Call us for our Acousto-Optic modulators, AOTFs, frequency shifters, deflectors, scanners, q-switches, mode lockers, cavity dumpers, Fiber Optic pigtailed AO devices, AOTF light sources, AOTF NIR process spectrometers, and noncontacting laser vibrometers.

LASER DYES

Laser Gold
A True Gold IR Standard

In a recent nationwide IR reflectance intercomparison, NIST chose Laser Gold® coated samples of both specular and diffuse reflectance standards to distribute to some of the most prestigious optical laboratories in the United States.

Twenty-four Department of Defense and private contractor laboratories took part in this round robin study, which set out to measure the reflectance, scatter, and diffraction from five different surfaces, two of which were Laser Gold coated.

Driving this decision was some 20 years experience NIST has had with Laser Gold as the actual IR Reference Standard.

Laser Gold, an electrochemically deposited coating, is known for its ultrahigh reflective capability and has become the "go to" process for its peerless low emissivity on numerous space instruments. Designers of imaging optics love its rugged cleanability, and have specified it on such prestigious projects as the Mars MOLA mirror and the IR secondary mirror at the Keck Observatory.

Visible And Infrared Absorbers

Exciton's new absorbing dyes, or "absorbers," can provide selective or broadband light filtering throughout the visible and near infrared. Absorbers with relatively narrow absorption bands filter out IR light with low visible color even at high optical densities. They can be used for selective laser wavelength filters and for security applications. Narrowband absorbers can be combined with visible light-absorbing dyes to create sharp cutoff longpass filters. 10kV Opto-Coupler From VMI

The OC100G opto-coupler is the latest in VMI's opto-coupler product line. Similar to the OC100HG, it features high gain, excellent isolation voltage, and long-term stability.

The OC100G utilizes two LEDs to expose light-sensitive junctions of the high-voltage (hv) photo-diode. The LEDs are precisely positioned to achieve maximum exposure. Since the hv diode is reversed biased, leakage current through the diode will vary in response to the light generated by the LEDs.

    Approximate dimensions are 1" length x .45" width x .32" height.

The OC100G helps protect sensitive electronic equipment by reducing group loops and providing an interface between two current-isolated systems.

    It is RoHS compliant.

By integrating the latest coating technology, Cascade Optical helps develop new ideas into new products. Inquire about our IAD capabilities, or send us the specs for your next low-temp application. We'll create a virtual prototype for initial testing and evaluation.

THIN FILM COATINGS AND OPTICAL FILTERS

THIN FILM COATINGS AND OPTICAL FILTERS

    Deposition Sciences Offers
    Spectral Metal Thin Film Coatings

DSI announces an innovation in optical coatings with HeatBuster® Spectral Metal. This breakthrough dichroic hybrid coating is designed to be highly reflective over selected bands of wavelengths and minimally reflective over the rest of the spectrum. The thin film coating combines the spectral advantages of glass mirrors with the cost savings and durability of sheet metal fabrication.

DSI's HeatBuster Spectral Metal is able to operate over a wide range of angles. A ‘dark mirror' coating is deposited onto the substrate, which optically couples the unwanted wavelengths into the metal. A highly reflective dichroic coating is then applied onto the ‘dark mirror', producing a spectrally selective mirror that is ultradurable, reliable, and reflective.

Recently, DSI customized the dichroic hybrid coating into a white-light-reflecting version. The resulting optically efficient coating is utilized in a high-intensity LED marine lantern with a visibility range of more than 12 miles!
