Hamamatsu's New Mini-Spectrometers Provide High Sensitivity For Low-Light Measurements
Bridgewater, NJ Hamamatsu Corporation has expanded its lineup of mini-spectrometers with a group of high-sensitivity models for low-light measurements, such as fluorescence detection, and other applications. The C9404CA, C9405CA, C10082CA, and C10083CA each combine a back-thinned CCD image sensor, high-precision quartz transmission grating, and driver circuit within a compact body. These models differ with respect to spectral response characteristics and spectral resolution, but due to their back-thinned CCD image sensor they all offer sensitivity that is about 2 orders of magnitude higher than CMOS sensor-based mini-spectrometers. Each model is supplied with a software package that includes measurement software, device driver, and DLL.
In total, Hamamatsu's mini-spectrometer lineup now includes 16 models and covers measurement needs across a broad spectrum from ultraviolet to near-infrared. The new high-sensitivity models fit in various segments along this spectrum. At the UV end, the C9404CA provides sensitivity from 200 to 400 nm and has spectral resolution of less than 3 nm. The C10082CA covers the UV to visible region (200 to 800 nm), and offers spectral resolution of about 6 nm. The C10083CA has a response range that extends from 320 to 1000 nm, plus spectral resolution of about 6 nm. For shortwave near-infrared measurements, the C9405CA features spectral response of 500 to 1100 nm with spectral resolution of less than 5 nm. To enhance overall usability, the new mini-spectrometers also provide high throughput, highly accurate optical characteristics, wide dynamic range, and a USB interface.
